Civil Engineering for High-Voltage Substations

Power substation civil construction demands rigorous structural concrete and earthworks to handle heavy equipment loads and electrical safety guidelines.

1. Heavy-Duty Transformer Slabs

Transformer foundations must support static loads exceeding 50 tonnes. We use high-strength reinforced concrete (typically Class 30/20 or Class 35/20) designed with double rebar meshes to handle dynamic vibration and weight.

2. Reinforced Concrete Blast Walls

Blast wall thickness ranges from 200mm to 300mm. They act as fire and blast barriers between large transformers, preventing cascading equipment failure. The walls must be anchored to deep concrete footings to resist lateral blast pressures.

3. Cable Trenches and Oil Sumps

Underground cable trenches protect cabling from moisture and physical impacts, while oil catchment pits capture transformer oil leaks to prevent fire spreading and soil pollution.
